Back to Groups Information

Our Group is about Seeing, Enjoying and Learning. With this in mind we arrange visits to places with an Art and/or Architectural interest. Wherever possible we book an expert guide to take us round and explain what we are looking at.

Examples of places we have visited include:

  • Art Galleries - Tate Britain, Tate Modern, National Gallery, Munnings Museum, The Sainsbury Collection at the University of East Anglia, Dulwich Picture Gallery ....

  • Architectural Interest - Westminster Abbey, Barbican Development, Kings Cross Regeneration Project, Crossness Pumping Station

  • Other - Street Art (East London), Charleston House (Bloomsbury Group), Tudeley Church (Chagall Windows), Henry Moore Foundation, Harlow (Sculptures) and Frederick Gibberd's House and Gardens, Lavenham

Our normal day for visits is the 4th Tuesday of the month although this may vary as not all venues are open on a Tuesday. We often include one coach trip in the summer and try to arrange an illustrated talk with buffet lunch in the winter. We would typically arrange about 6 or 7 visits during the year. You don't need to be an Art or Architecture Buff to be part of the group. The aim is that our trips will be enjoyable as well as informative.

We send out a monthly newsletter and if you would like to receive this please let Chris know on 07946 024302 or chris.miles48@yahoo.co.uk

Our Programme of events for 2021 is as follows:

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic we do not have a programme planned at the moment, but we are trying to arrange a number of virtual tours using zoom. In February we have two virtual visits to the Victoria and Albert Museum to be taken round the British Galleries as follows:

  • Wednesday 17th February - V&A - Part 1

  • Tuesday 21st February - V&A - Part 2
